Our 14" wooden handled Mandarin Wok is round-bottomed and very popular with Thai restaurants. Because of its deep bowl and solid construction, this workhorse will last you a lifetime and is great for preparing large quantities of food at once.

It is recommended that you use this wok with a wok ring (see related products), to focus the heat at the bottom of the wok and provide a steady base for the round-bottom wok.


beefA Favorite Recipe: Beef in Oyster Sauce


1 lb Beef (sliced)

½ lb Chinese Kale (1" pieces)

1 tablespoon garlic (minced)

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 Thai Red Chili (cut diagonally)

5 Green Onions (1" pieces)

1 tablespoon Palm sugar

3 tablespoons Oyster Sauce

1 tablespoon Cooking Wine

1 tablespoon Cornstarch

Carrot, Broccoli and other fresh vegetables (optional)

1 tablespoon Vegetable oil

Preparation method

  1. In a medium sized bowl, add the beef, garlic, soy sauce, sugar and cornstarch. Stir them until they are mixed well and let the mixture marinate for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat the cooking oil in a wok over medium heat. Add marinated beef and stir fry until nearly cooked. Then add Chinese kale, chili, green onions, cooking wine and oyster sauce. Stir fry until all ingredients are mixed in well and the beef is cooked thoroughly.
  3. Transfer to a serving dish (over fried Chinese kale). Serve immediately with hot Jasmine rice.

This has proved to be a good purchase. The wok is robust and a suitably heavy duty of steel. It's a good size for general home use - there's not really any point getting a much bigger wok anyway, as the correct cooking style for a wok requires you not to add too much food at one time. In any event, it's easily big enough for most family meals to be cooked in.

I bought this wok as it is an ideal size if you don't have a dedicated wok burner on your stove.

It is well made without being too heavy, (I had a le crueset cast iron wok which was way too heavy). I have also bought woks from Chinese supermarkets that were too thin to last or season properly. This one so far seems to be a good compromise.

Once seasoned it has become non stick and easy to clean. It doesn't warp in the heat and the handle remains cool to touch. (Posted on 3/5/11)

I purchased this wok back in September, but wanted to come back to Woksfordinner and sing it's praises (never reviewed a product online before).

This Mandarin wok is the real-deal. With an authentic hand hammered surface, it heats up quick and sears meats, or veggies very well. After multiple uses, the seasoning adds incredible flavor to your food.

I am extremely happy with this purchase and highly recommend this wok to anyone.

I'm very satisfied with this wok! I followed all the preparation-advices, not only before using it the first time, but after first, second and third use. Some smell of steel the first time and some coronation. But then all that was gone. Now it is excellent, and I use it often. And the "colors" inside are signs of a well-used wok in which I make delicious food. :o) (Posted on 5/2/10)
